During Holy Week, João Pessoa was the scene of an intense tourist movement, with hotels operating at maximum capacity and the city's airport registering a significant increase in the number of flights.
According to the Brazilian Association of the Hotel Industry, Paraíba section (ABIH-PB), hotel occupancy in the city reached an average of 82%, with some establishments reaching 100% occupancy. This index surpassed records from the same period in the previous year, highlighting the growing interest of tourists in enjoying Holy Week in João Pessoa.
Daniel Rodrigues, the city's Secretary of Tourism, highlighted that the increase in the opening of new hotel developments contributed to accommodating demand during the religious holiday. With almost 12 thousand beds available, the city demonstrated its ability to receive visitors with comfort and quality.
At João Pessoa Airport, movement was also intense, with a 31% increase in the number of flights compared to the previous year. Some airlines such as Azul Linhas Aéreas have expanded their operations, adding extra flights to meet high demand. All of this highlights the growing popularity of João Pessoa as a tourist destination during the holidays.
These numbers reinforce the success of João Pessoa as one of the main tourist destinations in Brazil. In addition to boosting hotel occupancy, tourists also contribute to the local economy by visiting commercial and entertainment establishments in the region.
